StatementI enjoy working in many different media. Seeing original works of great art has affected my sense of the possible. I focus on an idea, a mental image, a live, visual stimulus or a photo or assembled photos and realize it in the medium that feels right. Almost all of my images include the human face. I read and listen to a great deal of national and international news, which sometimes leads to my choice of subject matter and often determines my mood. I need the peace I get from concentration and focus on process. I find satisfaction in the abstract always found in the figurative and value craft in art. We live in a world of constant, varied visual stimulation: natural, synthetic, moving, still, photographic, abstract, commercial, original, reproduced, dream-formed, black and white, technicolor. When I close my eyes, I can produce an inner slide show. My styles are drawn from my mental storehouse of imagery. I like to think that my individual pieces speak for themselves. |
